🗓️ Week 3

This week, I poured 46 hours into researching, coding, and documenting 2 projects, fueled by 11 cups of coffee.  I participated in 2 calls to discuss goals, progress, and challenges.

This week's primary goal was to research methods of gas metering. I now have a reasonable understanding of it.

I have also benchmarked the latest version of geth. Prima facie, the analysis suggests that static gas price of memory operations can be reduced from fast step to fastest step.

I also had a fun time writing about the prehistory of Ethereum for the wiki.

Next Steps:

  • Reach out to Ipsilon with findings.
  • Benchmark more clients.
  • understand more about how absolute gas is measured on a reference hardware.
  • check if additional tooling is required for cross client benchmarking.
